Sheridan Illustration: Year 1

Vian Wrya | Sheridan College | Bachelor of Illustration
YEAR 1
NOTE: This is in not a full representation of the work done in my first year... at this point I was still getting the hang of photographing my work and have very little documentation of my work from this year.
STRUCTURAL DRAWING: Tasked with drawing a structure's interior then exterior, I chose to do the Breaking Bad RV as I was watching the series at the time. I decided to use black pencil crayon and microns with a combination of shading techniques (blending + hatching). I think this media is worth returning to and exploring further.

ETC: Drawing from in-studio models and set-ups. Pencil, acrylic, and conte (from left to right).

FIGURE DRAWING: To have us understand the way the body moves and contours, we had been assigned tons of homework on the skeletal structure. We were asked to take in-studio figure drawings we had done, and draw the skeleton underneath. The final image was an assignment where we had to emulate the skeletal studies of drawing masters such as Leonardo Da Vinci.

DESIGN PRINCIPLES: Loud vs Quiet. The first assignment I was asked to do in this course was to create two illustrations of what loud vs quiet would look like.

CONCEPTUAL PROCESS: This was the first time I had ever been pushed to work in a variety of mediums and styles. The first image was done with acrylic paint and posca markers, second was done with a medium we had to create ourselves (this was done with egg yolk and black India ink), and the last image was done with ink and pen on aged Manila paper.
